What is an MS20 Conviction?
A ‘pillion’ is the seat behind the driver’s seat of a motorcycle. You are only allowed to carry a passenger on a motorcycle on a pillion seat that is securely fitted behind the rider. If the pillion is too short or small, or the motorcycle doesn’t have one, you will receive an MS20 conviction.
In these circumstances, it is usually the rider who is prosecuted. However, it is possible for the passenger to be prosecuted as if they committed the offence. If you are convicted, your endorsement remains on your license for 4 years from the date. To add to this, you will receive 3 points on your license.
