Peart FAQs…
It’s common to have questions about insurance policies and finding the answers you need isn’t always easy. At Peart Performance Marque our FAQs cover everything you need to know about car insurance, buildings and contents insurance, high risk, convicted drivers, bike insurance and more.
Car Insurance
Usually there are 3 main levels of cover for vehicles which are below:
As the lowest level you can legally opt for, third party covers other people if you injure somebody or damage their property. However you are not covered which means if your car is stolen or encounters damage, you’ll need to cover these costs yourself.
Again, this policy covers other people. However, it does provide cover for replacement and repairs if your car is either damaged by fire or stolen.
This is the highest level of insurance and provides you cover as well as third parties. Claims you can make include accidental damage, repairs following an accident, as well as vandalism. This cover can also allow you to driver other people’s vehicles – but you need to check policy details for information.
In short yes! When you call us, you’ll be able to tell us when you need cover from and this will be part of the information we use to find the right policy cover.
As with any insurance, you have the option to spread payments over each month or pay your insurance annually. This will depend on your circumstances, but we will help you to select the right payment type.
It’s well known that vehicle insurance for younger drivers can be expensive. However, with our help we can look at the market and find the right options for you. We will take the time to find out more about you, your vehicle and history and use this to find the best match possible.
If you do not claim on your insurance policy, then you will be given a no claims discount. This will build up over time and lower the cost of your insurance. You can also build no claims as a Named Driver so it is worth checking previous policies if this applies to you.
However don’t worry if you don’t have an NCD! Our team will be able to find the best options on the market for your circumstances.

High Risk & Convicted Drivers
Most insurance companies will count the following drivers as high risk to insure:
- Convicted Drivers
- High Performance Vehicles
- High Risk Postcodes/Locations
- Particular High Risk Jobs
- Sports Cars
- Those Under 25
Yes you can – having previous convictions (driving or otherwise) does not prevent you from finding a policy to cover your vehicle. If you have a conviction or points on your license then you will need to let the insurer know. However, that does not mean you will not be able to find a policy.
At Peart our team specialises in this type of policy and will be able to find you a match.
There are many reasons why you may have a driving conviction. These will be issued to you by the police if you have been caught breaking a law. These can include points on your license as well as potentially a driving ban.
You will need to declare your conviction codes to your insurer and this could affect your policy. There are several codes include DR10 (drink driving), SP30 (speeding), IN10 (driving without insurance, DD40 (dangerous driving), and TS10 (failing to stop at traffic lights).
As you have a conviction, you will be classed as a high risk driver to insurance companies. This means that you are more likely to be involved in a claim or an accident, which is what impacts your policy.
Our team will work with you to find the most competitively priced cover depending on your circumstances and requirements.
Motorbike Insurance
No these are exactly the same. You will be able to find third party, third party, fire & theft, as well as fully comprehensive cover.
There will be an insurance policy out there for almost everybody! For the most part, the main types of motorbike covered commonly include sports, custom, adventure, touring, as well as scooters and mopeds.
With any policy there are always factors which can impact the cost of your insurance. A few of the areas that may impact your cover include age, riding history, how you are using the bike, any previous claims, voluntary excess level, where the bike is stored and what security it has.
This is known as pillion cover and you will need to check your policy. You should also double check your license to ensure this is okay to do as well. Our team are on hand to help if you need any advice or guidance.
Yes! This is sometimes included or down as an optional extra in policies. There are other areas you can cover such as:
- Breakdowns
- European and Overseas
- Legal Expenses
- Loss of Earnings
- Pillion
- Sidecars
Home Insurance
Buildings insurance protects your home’s structure in case of any damage or loss. Typically this covers permanent fittings as well like bathrooms, kitchen units, plumbing and wiring, windows, and doors.
Every policy is different so it is important you read all details carefully. If you have a mortgage then it is likely that you will be required to have a policy in place. Some mortgage lenders will ask you to take out cover with a particular company, however others will not have the same restrictions in place.
Contents differs from building insurance as it covers your possessions rather than the building. This is an important policy to have in place as a homeowner and a renter as it protects what you own.
The price you pay will depend on a lot of factors, including your details, location, property, what cover you want and more. Our team will be able to find the best policy to meet your requirements.
Every policy is different so you’ll need to check the specifics of the cover. Although a lot of insurance policies will offer cover to garages, boundary walls, sheds, and other ancillary structures. This could be at an extra cost, so speak to a member of our team if you’re unsure.
