What is a DR50 Conviction?

A DR50 conviction relates to the offence of being in charge of a vehicle when unfit due to drink or drugs. When being ‘in charge’, this does not necessarily mean you were driving the vehicle. You only need to be found inside your car with the keys and deemed unfit to drive due to consumption of alcohol or drugs. Moreover, you can still face a conviction even if you are not over the legal limit.

After a DR50 endorsement, you will most likely receive 10 points on your license. These will remain on your licence for 4 years. Alternatively, you could receive a driving disqualification instead. You may also face a fine, community order or prison sentence.

How Can We Help?

Drink and drug driving motor offences can significantly increase your insurance premiums. Some companies won’t even consider you with a drink or drug driving conviction. At Peart Performance Marque, we can help you find a suitable policy from one of our providers.

When looking for car insurance, it is essential you disclose any convictions you have. With a criminal conviction, you will be deemed as high risk. Therefore, your premiums will increase significantly.
