What is a DR40 Conviction?

If you are found in charge of a vehicle whilst over the legal alcohol limit, you will be convicted of a DR40 offence. This conviction ranges from being over the limit to failing to provide specimen for analysis.

Your DR40 endorsement will remain on your driver’s licence for 4 years from the date of the offence. Furthermore, you will receive 10 points on your licence. The difference of this endorsement is that you do not need to be driving the vehicle to be in charge. You must be in the car with the keys.
